Accessibility statement
MustWants builds the Cost-of-Living Explorer to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
What we do
- The map never communicates by color alone. Every cost level also carries a text marker and a written label, and the same information is available in the location list.
- The location list is a full keyboard and screen-reader alternative to clicking the map, with the same selection, drill-down, and comparison actions.
- Interactive controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels on touch screens and show a visible focus ring.
- Headings, landmarks, table captions, and form labels are used so structure is announced correctly.
- Every number is presented with its unit, reporting period, and data status.
- A skip link moves keyboard users straight to the explorer.
Known limitations
- The map surface itself is a graphical control. Panning and zooming rely on pointer or map keyboard controls; all underlying data is reachable through the list and scorecard instead.
- Some very small counties are difficult to target on the map at national zoom. Use search or the county list for those areas.
